Weeble wobble
Anna has been working on walking more and more everyday, although she still prefers crawling when she’s on a serious mission and needs to get somewhere fast.
Here’s a little snippet of her wobbling along!

So, I went in to get Anna this morning and she was standing in her crib, hollering as usual. Only she was wearing just a diaper. Totally naked, except for that. Her jammies were laying next to her in the crib. I picked them up, thinking she figured out how to unzip them, but they were still zipped the whole way up, with the top flap even snapped. (They’re the one piece, footie jammies.)
How the heck did she do that?!? The only explanation I can come up with is that her legs got stuck up in the body of her jammies (that happens a lot – they’re a little bit big) and she tried to stand up, which would have pulled the neck down… I guess it stretched and pulled the whole way off? Who knows….
Hopefully she won’t figure out how to get her diaper off too.
Anna’s favorite “word” seems to be godigo lately. And it’s absolutely universal. It means everything all day long. Take a look:

Yay Dolphins!
We got back from San Antonio this evening. Anna had some wonderful adventures and had a great time with her Aunt Kira and Uncle Gregg, Grandma and Grandpa, and crazy Laszlo-Doggy. I think she climbed the staircase at least 500 times.

Thanks for the new toys, Grandma and Grandpa!
Anna slept through Thanksgiving dinner, so sadly I have no photos of her chowing down on turkey. She woke up in time for dessert though and loved the sweet potato pie (which was also breakfast this morning)!
It’s so interesting to watch a baby’s personality develop from a newborn sleeping-eating blob to a big girl who reacts and interacts just like you and me. Already I can tell she is extremely stubborn (hmmm… where do you think she gets that from?), but also quite laid-back (thankyouverymuch), very independent and determined, and has a really good sense of humor. She is actually hilarious. She thinks putting her spoon in my mouth at mealtimes is so funny. Daddy’s beard is funny. Daddy in general is funny. Doggy is funny. Being upside down is funny. Pretty much everything is funny.
She claps all the time now. This morning at church, she clapped whenever Father would come out with the censer. She applauds the choir quite often too. I think she is figuring out how to wave. She puts her arm out there and wiggles her fingers a bit and looks at them. She also puts her thumb and first two fingers together like she’s going to cross herself, hehe.
A few nights ago I was reading her a book and Steve came in and she said “Dada,” which was totally a coincidence, but a pretty cool taste of what it will be like when she can call us Mama and Dada on purpose.
She cruises and climbs all day long… along the coffee table then to the couch and back to the coffee table. She loves to pull everything off the coffee table over and over again. Her record so far for letting go and remaining standing is probably 30 seconds or so. Although, the other night, she was playing with Steve’s work badge which is connect to his belt by a retractable string. She was holding onto just that while standing up for a few minutes. Pretty cool.
Well if you haven’t heard, we are gearing up for another move in a few weeks. The second move this year. I thought moving while pregnant was rough. At least once we get to the new place, Anna will have tons of cardboard and paper to keep her very occupied for a while. Keep us in your prayers!!
Anna’s 9 month check-up was yesterday… it’s hard to believe she will be 12 months old the next time we go back!
So I was right in thinking she’d measure a bit smaller this time (except her height – that went up), but apparently that’s extremely normal. After 6 months, it’s common for their percentile to go down. The doctor said when he first started his practice, he would freak out and test all the babies for “failure-to-thrive” and the results always came back negative. Either way, he thinks Anna is pretty wonderful and that she’s thriving beautifully. And I don’t think I could possibly jam any more milk or food into her than I already am.
Her official stats are:
16 pounds, 4.5 ounces (12th percentile)
27″ long (30th percentile)
16.5″ head circumference (5th percentile)
She’s a wee little ladybug, but she’s got a huge personality to compensate.
