Our little monkey turned two yesterday! We had a fun-filled day starting with a party at the community center’s indoor playground with some of her friends from our Mama’s Group. After that, Daddy took her out just the two of them to get a Jamba Juice (a special treat around here) and she got to pick out her balloon. She decided on Minnie Mouse.

She was too excited to nap, which happens about three or four times a week anyway these days, so we rescued her from her crib and brought her downstairs to play with the new kitchen that Grandma and Grandpa sent. That’s been a big hit! “Auntie” Marie and “Uncle” Ben came over for dinner and cake and present opening. She was spoiled with a huge pile of presents and had great fun opening all of them and trying out her new bike.

It was so much fun to see her excited about her birthday. She’s been singing “Happy Anna” for the past few days. We had some leftover cake this evening and she requested a candle so she could blow it out again.

I was going to post a few videos, but I can’t seem to figure out how to do it without first uploading them to facebook. I don’t really want all of them on there, so hopefully I’ll figure it out and update this in the next few days.

Anna’s two year check up is on Monday, so stay tuned for updated stats!

Guess who went pee-pee and poopy on the potty yesterday? Ok, no don’t guess… Anna did! It was totally out of the blue so I have no expectations that she will be potty trained anytime soon, nor are we going to actually try to potty train her right now since she’s so young. If she wants to and figures it out, great! If not, we’ll train her at some point down the road.

For the past few weeks, she’s been more interested in the potty, but mostly just sitting down with all her clothes on while we go potty. A few times, she’s wanted to strip down and try it so we let her but nothing ever happened. Then yesterday, she sat down and peed, and she looked down in shock, like “what the heck is going on?!?” So of course we jumped up and down and cheered and gushed all over her. Later in the evening we were at our good friends’ house and their 3 year old daughter went potty so of course Anna wanted to have a turn next. She sat down and really tried… to which I said, “it’s okay if you can’t go- don’t hurt yourself :-)” And then to everyone’s surprise, out came a poopy! Craziness.

For the past few months we’ve been heading to the playground every sunny day we get. It’s Anna’s favorite place to be and while the swings are her favorite, the slide is a close second. At some point, I started saying “1,2,3, GO” while she was at the top of the slide. She thought it was hilarious and now says it herself when she’s ready to fly down. Except it comes out “1, GO!”

This has translated to sliding her ducks down the slope of her tub at bath time and cheering them on. And just today, she pretended her highchair was a playground and sent her little grapes down the slide too.

Apologies for the lack of posts and photos around here lately. I really have no excuse for the lack of posts except that my little tazmanian devil keeps me quite busy these days. When I sit down to catch my breath, I can’t begin to sum up the things she’s accomplishing or what we spend our time doing. I’m not sure who I’d be writing for anymore either… it seems like most of you are pretty satisfied with photos and videos. Not say to I’ll never blog again… but until I find the motivation to write semi-regular posts, we’ll just stick to quick updates here and there if that’s alright with you.

As for photos, that’s another unfortunate story. Anna had a week-long stomach flu last week, which was horrendous and miserable for her and us. Poor baby! She managed to throw up on our brand new laptop that we’d had less than a month. And of course it had been a week or two already since I’d last uploaded pictures. The only computer we have now is Steve’s little netbook with nowhere near enough room to store the ridiculous amount of photos I take every day. They are currently building up on my camera so I expect to have about 5,000 to upload by the time we get around to buying a new computer. Which will hopefully be sometime soon.

Stay tuned!

Anna had her 18 month check up this morning. A bit late as she’ll be turning 19 months (eep!) in just three more days. The good news is that she’s back on the chart - just barely - for weight. Hooray! The bad news is that she has teeth just like Mama that even the dentist has a hard time flossing. Tight contacts I believe they call it. So he said we need to start flossing her teeth. I laughed and said, “Are you freaking kidding me?” Brushing her teeth is enough of a battle right now. One of us has to pin her down while the other brushes. Unless Daddy has already left for work, and then I’m on my own. (Good times!) She had a dentist appointment tomorrow morning, so hopefully they can give me some pointers.

Here are Miss Anna’s Stats:
Weight: 20 lbs. 1.25 oz. (finally broke 20 lbs!) / 3rd%
Height: 31.25″ / 40th%
Head Circumference: 17.75″ / 15th%

I know I am due for a proper update on this little space of ours, but it just doesn’t seem possible these days. I will say that Anna’s speech and signs have exploded ever since we got back from our trip last month. I think she hit the 18 month mark and thought, “Oh, I’m 18 months now, I should probably try to say one of those word-things Mommy and Daddy say over and over all day long.”
