Ahhhh, sleep
We survived the big sleep transition week! Aside from the first few days which were very tough, it really wasn’t as bad as I was expecting. Anna can now sleep unswaddled (woohoo!!) and once she’s asleep, she seems to sleep much better that way. After a few days of trying out different positions, she apparently likes to sleep on her tummy the best, just like her daddy. (See photos). We’re constantly going in to check on her and make sure her face isn’t jammed into the mattress. The first night, she had it smashed into the bumper pad, so we had to take that off.
We had been putting her in bed with us after her middle of the night feedings, but after a few nights of her rolling over into me and kicking me all night long, (and one morning where she slept sideways between us - not the best position, suffocation-wise) she now goes back in the crib afterward. She just moves around too much now that her limbs are free. Such a big girl, sleeping in her own room all night!
Anyway, this morning, she cried for maybe 2 minutes before she fell fast asleep. That’s way better than last week’s hour-and-a-half and never falling asleep. She seems to be much happier during the day now that she is napping and sleeping well. And I’m in a better mood too. Happy baby = happy Mommy (well, not all the time…)
I’m working on getting some video of her newest antics. She clams up as soon as I turn on the camera, so I haven’t had much luck so far. I’ll post them when she cooperates.
We’re off to Lake Sammamish today once she wakes up from her nap. It’s too gorgeous outside to be in the house all day.
