It’s amazing what just a few days can teach you.

I’m getting really good at changing diapers. I’ve learned to keep the old diaper in place for a bit and only swap in the new one at the last possible minute. That way, if she decides the perfect time to go to the bathroom again is during the diaper changing, I’m ready.

I’ve also learned how to hold both her feet securely in my left hand while cleaning her up with the baby wipe in my right hand. I can also see the (and hear and smell) the warning signs of an oncoming poop explosion, so I’m always at the ready.

Today I thwarted a would-be poop explosion, immediately following by a “sneaky pee.” Those are a little tricky to handle because when I’ve got her feet held in the air, the pee will go on her stomach and roll down her sides and onto the changing mat (unless you are really really careful). But I am Mr. Savvy Diaper Changer. I was careful. I thwarted the PE and the SP. A gold star for me!

On a somewhat random side note, TedGinnJr is starting to show more of an interest in Anna lately. At first he was pretty oblivious; it seemed like he didn’t even know she existed. But now he sniffs her occasionally, and he’ll come running from another room when he hears her crying. He even tries to console her at night by resting his head on the side of the bed while she is crying.

He’s a good dog. He’ll make a excellent baby sitter someday soon.
